Measuring

As Polestar dance poles are cut to size prior to dispatch we need to know the floor to ceiling height where the pole is to be used. It is important that this measurement is taken and recorded accurately as mistakes can be expensive to rectify. Ideally get someone to double-check the measurement.

Remember when considering where to position your dance pole that if you have a plasterboard type ceiling the pole will need to be sited directly below a ceiling joist.

If you intend to use the dance pole at more than one location then take and record the measurement at each location.

Ordering & Payment

Orders can be placed by phone, fax, email and post as well as in person at our Harlow Works. Payment can be made by cheque, debit card, credit card, bank transfer or if calling in person by cash. Payments by credit card do however incur a 1.7% surcharge to cover our additional costs.

Delivery

Poles are packed in heavy duty cardboard tubes and dispatched with a national carrier normally on an overnight delivery service.  Someone must be available at the delivery address to receive, check and sign for the goods.

Don’t worry if you need to get the dance pole delivered to your work or to a friend or neighbour .The packaging is not branded or marked with any indication of what is inside – so they wont know - unless you want to tell!

Normally dance poles are delivered 3 to 4 working days after receipt of order, or if payment is by cheque, after payment has cleared.

Collections

Poles can be collected from our Harlow Works by arrangement saving the delivery charge. Poles must be pre-ordered; we will advise when the order is placed when the dance pole will be ready for collection.

Returns Policy

Any pole supplied that has been cut to the wrong size because of our error will be replaced F.O.C.

If the wrong type of dance pole is supplied due to our error, it will be replaced F.O.C.

If a dance pole is found to have been damaged in transit, it will be replaced F.O.C. as long as the damage is reported immediately to us (certainly no later than 24 hours after receipt). It is up to the customer to inspect the goods as soon as they are delivered and where possible, sign the carrier’s paperwork as “possibly damaged”. This is especially important if the packaging appears to be damaged in any way because, in reality, the carrier will not wait whilst the dance pole is unpacked and inspected.

If a dance pole is supplied as ordered but is subsequently found to be the wrong length due to the customer’s error, it will be replaced subject to the customer paying the two subsequent carriage charges (i.e. in respect of returning the wrong pole and the supply of the replacement pole). In addition, there will be a 15% handling / re-cutting charge levied in respect of the original cost of the dance pole. This is subject to the dance pole being returned in the same condition that it was sent out in and that the pole is of a length that can readily be re-sold to another customer (i.e. not too short).

If a dance pole is supplied as ordered but is subsequently found to be unsuitable, it can be returned for credit against the cost of the dance pole (excluding delivery charges) subject to the customer paying the return carriage charge and a 15% handling / re-cutting charge being levied in respect of the original cost of the dance pole. This is subject to the dance pole being returned in the same condition that it was sent out in and that the dance pole is of a length that can readily be re-sold to another customer (i.e. not too short).

Pole length

Clients must consider, and wherever possible measure, the floor to ceiling height of venues where the podium is to be used to ensure that there is sufficient height.

Podiums are normally supplied with a dance pole up to 3m (10ft) long. When assembling a podium the pole is normally fitted to the podium base with the pole horizontal and the base on its side. Once fitted the podium is tipped onto its back swinging the pole into a vertical position. A 3m long pole will require a minimum headroom of just over 3.1m to allow this assembly.

Venues with a ceiling height of less than less than 3.12m ceiling height will require a shorter dance pole. Please do not hesitate to contact us to discuss your requirements for dance pole lengths to match various ceiling heights.

Dance surface

Dance podiums are generally fitted with either a heavy duty grey vinyl surface or a hard black rubber surface bonded to the 12mm thick plywood or MDF decking. Sample pieces of materials are available upon request.

Alternate colours and materials are also available at additional cost including translucent Perspex, which can be under-lit to create spectacular lighting effects. We would of course be delighted to discuss your requirements.

Weights

When dance pole podiums are used freestanding we recommend the use of 200kg of weights or kentledge within the podium base to stabilise the unit. We can supply 25kg (56lb) steel weights for this purpose; 8 off weights simply are simply positioned onto the weight board within the podium base.

Other forms of kentledge (such as sandbags) can be used to stabilise the podium base. However the use of a lesser amount of weight than the recommended 200kg is entirely at the discretion and risk of the user.
